1. ASUS ROG Rapture (GT-AXE11000) Asus MU-MIMO WiFi 6E Gaming Router
Tri-Band 10 Gigabit Wireless Router, World's First 6Ghz Band for Wider Channels & Higher Capacity, 1.8GHz Quad-Core CPU, 2.5G Port, AURA RGB
Pros
- Latest Wi-Fi 6E wireless standard
- Included security subscription
- Very fast throughput
- Flexible Ethernet ports
- Supports OutFox
- Ease of setup
Cons
- Big and expensive
- Latest firmware has QoS issues
- Wi-Fi 6E devices still nascent
The Asus Wi-Fi 6E MU-MIMO Gaming Router, also known as the ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000, is surely worth a closer look for those who want their network to be on the bleeding edge of wireless standards. It has a lot of antennae, stylish angles, and lights, and it appears like a high-end gaming gadget as part of the Republic of Gamers series.
Wi-Fi 6E is a very new wireless protocol that came out not long after Wi-Fi 6. All of the improvements over Wi-Fi 6 may be found here. This newest wireless standard adds an extra frequency of 6 GHz with less interference, reduced latency, and a total of seven 160 MHz ultra-wide channels to boost data throughput for those who want the CliffsNotes version.
The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 gaming router is adaptable and compatible with the newest Wi-Fi 6E standard. However, it is held back by its exorbitant price and poor testing performance with network congestion.
2. ASUS AX6000 (RT-AX88U) MU-MIMO WiFi 6 Gaming Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Router, 8 GB Ports, Gaming & Streaming, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security, Adaptive QoS, MU-MIMO
Pros
- Speedy performance
- Easy installation
- Uses the latest 802.11ax technology
- Eight LAN ports
- Robust QoS settings
- Built-in malware protection
Cons
- Expensive
- AX clients are not yet ubiquitous
The Asus RT-AX88U is currently the greatest Wi-Fi 6 router we’ve tested. It has a lot of complex features and powerful administration software. Despite the fact that all of this raises its price, it remains the best future-proof MU-MIMO router available right now.
The Asus RT-AX88U was one of the first Wi-Fi 6 routers to visit our tests in April of 2019, and it’s still one of the finest we’ve tested yet. In our tests, this costly router with 802.11ax circuitry delivered fast 160MHz throughput and rapid file-transfer rates, and its ordinary 802.11ac performance was also very strong. If you’re ready for Wi-Fi 6 right now and want to future-proof your wireless network, the RT-AX88U is the best choice if it’s within your budget.
3. ASUS ROG Rapture (GT-AX11000) Asus MU-MIMO WiFi 6 Gaming Router
Tri-Band 10 Gigabit Wireless Router, 1.8GHz Quad-Core CPU, WTFast, 2.5G Port, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security, AURA RGB
The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 ($449) is the first router in the new Wi-Fi 6 class, and it lives up to expectations, earning a position on our list of the best MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 routers. Its close-range performance is decent, but it increases with distance, setting a new benchmark for anyone looking to flood a big household with high-speed Wi-Fi.
Sure, the router is large and pricey, but if you require speed, our Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 review shows that it should be on your shopping list. This is one of the best MU-MIMO Wi-Fi routers for heavy users and gamers.
All previous gaming routers may not be outdated, but they are now second best, thanks to the arrival of the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX11000. It’s a big router with eight antennae that you might wish to flaunt. It is, however, one of the most costly routers on the market, at $450, and a must-have for any dedicated gamer.
However, even with Wi-Fi 6, the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 cannot replace the TP-Link Archer C5400X as our favorite gaming MU-MIMO router. The TP-Link Archer C5400X has a higher throughput, a longer range, and better handling of typical obstacles – all at a lower price.
Other Wi-Fi 6 gaming routers have appeared on the market since we originally tested the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX11000, but the original Wi-Fi 6 gaming router has maintained a consistent position among the finest of them. It’s still one of the greatest gaming routers available, as well as one of the top Wi-Fi 6 models.
4. ASUS AC1750 (RT-ACRH18) Asus MU-MIMO WiFi Router
Dual Band Wireless Internet Router, Easy Setup, Parental Control, USB 3.0, AiRadar Beamforming Technology extends Speed, Stability & Coverage, MU-MIMO
Powered by 5G Wi-Fi and 256QAM technology, the 802.11ac chipset gives the RT-AC65 faster wireless speeds than N technology. At 2.4 GHz, it reaches 450 Mbps, while on the 5GHz band it blazes to 1300 Mbps. The upgraded bandwidth has the higher capacity you need to increase WiFi enjoyment at home. With notebooks, desktops, pads, and smartphones now all Wi-Fi-reliant, it’s time to upgrade to the next generation to expand your connectivity now and in the future.
ASUS AC1750 (RT-ACRH18) Fast Wi-Fi Speed – Concurrent dual-band AC1750-level Wi-Fi delivers smooth streaming for home network. MU-MIMO for Full Speed on Multiple Devices – The revolutionary technology connects multiple MU-MIMO-compatible clients at each device’s maximum speed simultaneously. Optimized Coverage with AiRadar Beamforming – The WiFi signal is focused towards connected devices to ensure a stable connection.
Parental Control – Protect children from internet addiction. Easy Network Setup and Control with ASUS Router App.
5. ASUS AX1800 (RT-AX55) WiFi 6 Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Router, Speed & Value, Gaming & Streaming, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security, Parental Control, MU-MIMO, OFDMA
The Asus RT-AX55 is now Asus’s most affordable WiFi 6 router, and it’s effectively an RT-AX56U with certain functions removed. There is less RAM and flash memory, and there are no USB ports, so no external storage devices can be connected — however it appears that Asus has reintroduced both functionalities in a fresh software update.
Everything else is largely there, so the WiFi 6 (draft) technologies are there to help enhance WiFi speed and network stability — there’s OFDMA (on both bands, ul+dl), MU-MIMO (22), BeamForming, and TWT, but channel bandwidth only goes up to 80MHz, so no support for 160MHz. I recently reviewed the Asus RT-AX56U, and if the RT-AX55 works similarly (which it should given the price difference), it’s a great alternative for individuals who want to try out WiFi technology but are on a tight budget.
6. ASUS (RT-AX3000) WiFi 6 Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Internet Router, Gaming & Streaming, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security, Parental Control, MU-MIMO, OFDMA
The ASUS RT-AX58U (RT-AX3000) is in the middle of ASUS’s “budget” WiFi 6 MU-MIMO router series, right after the “flagship” RT-AX88U, but better equipped than the slightly less powerful RT-AX56U, and, given that it’s usually priced near the RT-AC86U, I think it’s a nice way to ease your way into this new WiFi standard.
You won’t notice much of a difference if you continue to use devices that don’t support WiFi 6, but that will change in the future (it depends on how often you change your phone, your laptop, and other WiFi-capable devices). Is the ASUS RT-AX58U in the ‘draft’ stage, and hence missing some of the claimed important features, before we proceed any further? The RT-AX58U is not WiFi 6 certified, but this certification is granular, thus most capabilities are implemented, comparable to WAVE 1 and 2 of the 802.11ac standard, but more will be added later (and in better forms).
7. ASUS ROG Rapture (GT-AC5300) WiFi Gaming Router
Tri Band Gigabit Wireless Router, Quad-Core CPU, WTFast Game Accelerator, 8 GB Ports, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security
To get an advantage while playing online, hardcore gamers rely on fast PCs with blazing graphics cards, but all of that fast gear is useless if your router can’t offer the throughput required to overcome network slowness. The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 is a top-of-the-line tri-band router aimed at gamers.
This router looks the part, with hardware and software-based gaming acceleration and prioritization, a ton of LAN ports, strong malware and virus protection, and a fast quad-core CPU. It’s pricey and bulky, but if you’re a committed online gamer or run a high-traffic home network, its fast performance and rich features make it a must-have.
For most home users, the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 is overkill, but if you take your gaming seriously and want to guarantee that your network can handle all of your play and streaming demands, this router is the best you can buy. It had the best 5GHz close-proximity throughput of any router we’ve tested, and its 2.4GHz and MU-MIMO throughput rates were equally impressive. It has a slew of gigabit LAN connections, as well as built-in gaming acceleration and a slew of other gamer-friendly optimization features, all of which are controllable via a well-designed interface.
8. ASUS AC2900 (RT-AC86U) WiFi Gaming Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Internet Router, WTFast Game Accelerator, Streaming, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security, Adaptive QoS
The Asus RT-AC86U is a great option if you want a cheap router with a lot of features. This high-end dual-band AC2900 router has something for everyone, from gaming to security to fast speeds. And you don’t have to spend a fortune to obtain precisely what you need for only $200 (£200 in the UK, which equates to AU$350).
During testing, I saw max throughput speeds on 5GHz and was pleasantly delighted by the app. Many Asus routers have a very customized menu, which is one of their finest advantages. This is also true with the Asus RT-AC86U.
If you require an easy-to-use router with consistent Wi-Fi coverage in a large household, this router won’t let you down.
You can tweak almost every aspect, and the 5GHz speeds are incredible. It also has gaming-specific features, home security, and USB 3.1 Gen 1 for speedy network storage and printing.
The Asus RT-AC86U is one of the best all-around routers for around $200. It includes all of the most recent features, as well as enhanced security for all of your devices. This router should help you get the most out of your bandwidth while keeping your home network working smoothly.
9. ASUS AC1750 (RT-AC65) WiFi Router
Dual Band Wireless Internet Router, Easy Setup, Parental Control, USB 3.0, AiRadar Beamforming Technology extends Speed, Stability & Coverage, MU-MIMO
The ASUS RT-AC65 AC1750 Wireless Dual-Band Gigabit Router provides fast and dependable wireless internet connectivity. For seamless video streaming, online gaming, and video chats, this 802.11ac dual-band router is intended to give up to 1750 Mb/s throughput over the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
With MU-MIMO technology, the router easily connects with numerous connected devices, while ASUS AiRadar Beamforming technology amplifies and fine-tunes wireless signals for best connectivity over extended distances. For high-speed wired connections to PCs, video gaming consoles, smart TVs, and other suitable devices, four Gigabit Ethernet ports are provided.
To share data with all connected devices on the network, plug a flash drive into the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A connector. The ASUS Router app allows you to rapidly set up your network, including controlling guest login access and parental settings.
10. ASUS AX6000 (RT-AX89X) WiFi 6 Gaming Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Internet Router, Dual 10G Ports, Gaming & Streaming, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security
Over the previous year, ASUS has been one of the more aggressive manufacturers in terms of providing Wi-Fi 6 solutions, with a practically complete portfolio on the market right now. When it comes to their most recent release, the RT-AX89X, the RT-AX89X wants to put all others to shame with a feature-rich platform – and, once again, a movie-style appearance.
For the past month, the AX89X has served as my house router, and it’s not unexpected that it has operated wonderfully. The build quality is excellent from top to bottom, including the plastic, which has a finer polish than most. The 89X’s futuristic look takes some getting used to, but it does serve as a functional aspect of the router, isolating the wired ports on the PCB.
In 2.4GHz testing, the performance was ordinary for the 89X and comparable to other AX6000 class systems we’ve examined in recent months. For the 2.4GHz frequency, the speed was a little under 240 Mbps. The 89X reached 839 Mbps using 80MHz and 1400 Mbps using 160MHz at 5GHz, indicating a considerable improvement in performance. Keep in mind that these are real-world figures; in this scenario, connection rates are substantially greater, reaching upwards of 2400 Mbps. Nonetheless, the ASUS RT-AX89X is by far the fastest router we’ve tested.
Finally, ASUS has priced this solution affordably, with 8-gigabit ports, two 10Gbe connections, and eight-stream wifi for less than $500.
11. ASUS AC1900 (RT-AC67P) WiFi Router
Dual Band Wireless Internet Router, Easy Setup, VPN, Parental Control, AiRadar Beamforming Technology extends Speed, Stability & Coverage, MU-MIMO
ASUS AC1900 (RT-AC67P) Powered by 5G Wi-Fi and 256QAM technology, the 802.11ac chipset gives the RT-AC67P faster wireless speeds than N technology. At 2.4 GHz, it reaches 600 Mbps, while on the 5GHz band it blazes to 1300 Mbps. The upgraded bandwidth has the higher capacity you need to increase WiFi enjoyment at home. With notebooks, desktops, pads, and smartphones now all Wi-Fi-reliant, it’s time to upgrade to the next generation to expand you connectivity now and in the future.
MU-MIMO gives every compatible device its own dedicated full-speed Wi-Fi connection so that multiple devices can connect at the same time without slowing down the network.
ASUS AC1900 RT-AC67P is able to connect to up to 3 MU-MIMO-compatible clients at each device’s maximum speed simultaneously, unlike standard single-user MIMO where individual devices have to wait for sequential transmissions.
12. ASUS AC3100 (RT-AC88U) WiFi Gaming Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Router, WTFast Game Accelerator, Streaming, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security, Adaptive QoS, MU-MIMO
The Asus RT-AC88U is a dual-band 802.11ac router with a long list of features and a hefty price tag. It employs MU-MIMO (Multi-User Numerous Input, Multiple Output) technologies to simultaneously serve multiple Wi-Fi customers without losing bandwidth. To make use of the technology, each client must have an MU-MIMO-compatible network adapter installed. The router has several Gigabit LAN connections as well as several USB connections. The RT-AC88U has an intelligently designed user interface with a variety of administration options, as well as blistering speed on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. For high-end routers, it’s our top option.
You get exceptionally high throughput speed, simultaneous multi-client MU-MIMO data streaming, and a great feature set with the Asus RT-AC88U Dual-Band Router. It performed admirably in our 2.4GHz and 5GHz speed tests, but its read/write file-transfer scores were average. It also has gamer-friendly QoS settings, parental controls, sophisticated file sharing, and mobile cloud services, all of which are accessible through a user-friendly interface. This router is ideal for users who want to connect multiple peripherals and wired clients, such as gaming consoles, NAS devices, printers, and home-automation hubs, thanks to its eight LAN ports and two USB ports.
13. ASUS AC1700 (RT-ACRH17) WiFi Gaming Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Router, 4 GB Ports, USB 3.0 Port, Gaming & Streaming, Easy Setup, Parental Control, MU-MIMO
ASUS AC1700 (RT-ACRH17) Powered by 5G Wi-Fi and 256QAM technology, the 802.11ac chipset gives the RT-ACRH17 faster wireless speeds than N technology. At 2.4 GHz, it reaches 400 Mbps, while on the 5GHz band it blazes to 1300 Mbps. The upgraded bandwidth has the higher capacity you need to increase WiFi enjoyment at home. With notebooks, desktops, pads, and smartphones now all Wi-Fi-reliant, it’s time to upgrade to the next generation to expand your connectivity now and in the future.
Delivering 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz concurrent bands at up to 400 Mbps and 1300 Mbps, respectively, the RT-ACRH17 has a total speed of up to 1700 Mbps and maintains complete stability. You can perform basic tasks like web browsing and file downloading on the 2.4 GHz band, while simultaneously allowing multiple devices to stream in HD or support online gaming and other demanding applications smoothly on the clearer 5 GHz band.
MU-MIMO gives every compatible device its own dedicated full-speed Wi-Fi connection so that multiple devices can connect at the same time without slowing down the network. ASUS AC1700 RT-ACRH17 is able to connect to up to 3 MU-MIMO-compatible clients at each device’s maximum speed simultaneously, unlike standard single-user MIMO where individual devices have to wait for sequential transmissions.
14. ASUS AC1300 (RT-ACRH13) WiFi Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Router, 4 GB Ports, USB 3.0 Port, Gaming & Streaming, Easy Setup, Parental Control, MU-MIMO
MU-MIMO technology is included in the Asus RT-ACRCH13. It’s a low-cost product aimed towards individuals and small enterprises. High-end routers are popular among residential users. Who needs a high-end router when we have the Asus RT-ACRH13 (Ac1300) router, which still outperforms most high-end routers like the Ac5300 and Ad7200?
The Asus RT-ACRH13 is not a new router, but it occupies a prominent place in the networking market thanks to cutting-edge technical improvements. Since its release four years ago, it has been meeting people’s demands. According to Asus, the RT-ACRH13 is one of the finest AC routers on the market.
The Qualcomm Atheros IPQ4018 technology is used in the Asus RT-quadcore ACRH’s 717 MHz CPU. The Qualcomm processor gives 2.4 GHz fast wireless performance and includes 128 MB of RAM and 128 MB of flash memory.
A 2.4 GHz Rich-Wave Power Amplifier is also included. The Qualcomm APQ4018 processor has a 2:2 ratio and provides exceptional 5 GHz wireless performance, which is boosted by the 5 GHz Skyworks amplifier.
15. ASUS AX1800 (RT-AX56U) WiFi 6 Router
Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Internet Router, 2 USB Ports, Gaming & Streaming, AiMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security, Parental Control, MU-MIMO
Asus is recognized for high-end electrical devices, such as wireless routers. The new Asus RT-AX56U (Ax1800) is one of the company’s top Wi-Fi routers. Many people are interested in this model because of its vast range of cutting-edge features and low pricing.
Despite its low price, this gadget is compatible with other 802.11ac-enabled devices. It shares characteristics with the Asus RT-AC86U and Netgear X4S routers, for example.
The wireless connection of the Asus RT-AX56U is based on 1024-QAM technology. OFDMA technology is also used by the router to improve multi-user access. However, we were unable to locate the 160MHz channel bandwidth, but the AI-MESH support system was discovered. There will be no performance differences if you use the router with devices that are compatible with Wi-Fi 6 adapters.
16. ASUS (RT-AC1200_V2) WiFi Router
Dual Band Wireless Internet Router, Gaming & Streaming, Easy Setup, Parental Control
